Our picks are based on construction, materials, price and availability in Canada; hands-on Lab results are being added as each pair finishes testing. Every shoe here comes in women’s sizes or a unisex run, is sold by Canadian retailers in CAD, and covers a different need: everyday, trend, platform, all-day comfort or wet weather.

How do you convert unisex sizes to women’s sizes?

Many white sneakers are unisex. Some brands list them in men’s sizes, others in women’s, and European brands use EU sizes. The gap between men’s and women’s US sizes differs by brand: at Converse it’s two full sizes, so a men’s 5 is a women’s 7. Always check which scale the size picker shows before you order.

Then check the model’s own fit notes:

• Converse Chuck Taylor Lift. Converse Canada says it runs large and suggests a half size down.
• Veja Campo. EU sizes, no half sizes. Retailers say it fits true to size and slightly wide, and suggest going up if you’re between sizes.
• Samba OG and Stan Smith. Both are slim, low-profile shapes. If you have wide feet, try them on in a store before you order online.

Measure your foot in centimetres, heel to longest toe, late in the day when your feet are largest, and compare it with the brand’s chart rather than your usual size in another brand. Then buy where returns are easy: Nike Canada and adidas Canada take back unworn pairs within 30 days, and Sport Chek refunds unworn online orders within 30 days and gives store credit up to 60.

Which white sneakers are most comfortable for standing all day?

For long shifts or days of walking, look for a thick, cushioned midsole rather than a thin, flat court sole. The On Cloud 6 and New Balance 530 are built around foam cushioning. Classic tennis and football-trainer shapes like the Stan Smith and Samba OG are flatter and firmer, and suit shorter days better.

A few construction details matter more than brand names:

• Midsole depth. Running-derived shoes put more foam between your foot and the ground. Court shoes rely on a thinner insole and a rubber cupsole.
• Toe-box shape. Slim fashion sneakers often taper at the toe. If your toes feel squeezed in the store, they’ll feel worse after eight hours.
• Removable insole. Lets you fit your own orthotic. Check the product page before you buy.

If you work in health care or hospitality, check your workplace footwear policy first; some require fluid-resistant uppers or closed, non-mesh shoes. Platform or flat: how much height do you want?

A platform adds height and a fashion-forward shape, while a flat court shoe looks cleaner with tailoring and slim trousers. In our picks, the Converse Chuck Taylor Lift is the only true platform. The Air Force 1 and New Balance 530 add height through a thick, chunky sole without reading as a platform.

Before you commit to a platform, walk on stairs in the store or at home on a clean floor. A stacked sole changes how a shoe flexes and how far your foot sits from the ground, which takes some getting used to.

Do women’s white sneakers work in a Canadian winter?

Only some of them, and only with care. Smooth leather and synthetic leather on a rubber sole cope with cold, dry days and light slush if you wipe the salt off the same day. Canvas, mesh and suede soak up salty water. The Vessi Weekend is the only waterproof pick, and slush can still get in over its collar.
