Where to Buy White Sneakers in Canada: Retailers, Shipping, Returns and Duties

By Nathaniel Laurent Tremblay, Editor

Which Canadian retailers sell white sneakers?

Five kinds of retailer sell white sneakers in Canada: brand stores, sporting goods and sneaker chains, shoe stores, department and outdoor stores, and luxury boutiques, plus marketplaces like Amazon.ca. Brand stores have the widest size runs for their own shoes, chains make in-store returns easy, and boutiques carry the luxury labels the chains don’t stock.

Retailer type Examples Good for Watch for
Brand stores adidas.ca, Nike Canada, Converse Canada, Vessi Canada Full size runs, new colourways, member perks Free-shipping minimums
Sporting goods and sneaker chains Sport Chek, Foot Locker Canada Trying on in person, in-store returns, frequent sales Stock varies by store
Shoe stores Little Burgundy, DSW Canada Trying on many brands at once Delivery fees on small orders
Department and outdoor stores Simons, MEC Curated brands; Vessi and On at MEC Selection varies by season
Luxury and boutiques SSENSE (Montreal), independent sneaker boutiques Common Projects, Axel Arigato and similar Check if prices include duties
Marketplaces Amazon.ca Convenience Third-party sellers; check who ships it

Some brands sell to Canada from abroad. Veja’s own store, for example, ships to Canada but charges duties and taxes on delivery. That’s why every pick on our lists shows Canadian retailers first, with the CAD price and the date we checked it.

How much do you need to spend for free shipping?

Most Canadian brand stores set a free-shipping minimum, usually between about CA$80 and CA$230, and some shoe stores charge a small flat fee instead. Signing up for a free membership sometimes lowers the threshold. If you’re just under it, adding laces or a cleaning kit can cost less than the delivery fee.

Retailer Free shipping Where we saw it
Nike Canada Over CA$100 for members, over CA$150 for guests Nike Canada help page, October 2026
Vessi Canada Over CA$150 (after discounts, before tax) Vessi Canada FAQ, October 2026
Veja (ships from abroad) Over CA$230; CA$35 below that Veja Canada FAQ, October 2026
adidas Canada Over CA$150 Google.ca shopping listing, 23 October 2026
DSW Canada Over CA$79.99 Google.ca shopping listing, 23 October 2026
Little Burgundy CA$7.99 delivery; free with LB Club Google.ca shopping listing, 23 October 2026

Thresholds change often, especially around sales, so check at checkout. Buying in store and picking up avoids shipping altogether at most chains.

What are the return policies at Canadian retailers?

Most Canadian sneaker retailers give you about 30 days to return unworn shoes in their original box. Some refund return shipping, some charge for it, and some deduct a handling fee. Because white sneakers are judged on fit and on how the white looks in daylight, try them on indoors on a clean floor before you decide.

Retailer Window Conditions and costs
adidas Canada 30 days from receipt for most online orders Unworn, original shoe box; some items final sale
Nike Canada 30 days from delivery Unworn, unwashed; free returns for Nike Members
Sport Chek Refund within 30 days; store credit from 31 to 60 days Unworn, original packaging; free returns to stores; mail returns at your cost
Vessi Canada 30 days from delivery Unworn, original box; CA$10 handling fee on refunds; exchanges free
Veja (ships from abroad) 28 days Unworn with tags and box; you pay return shipping

Returning across a border costs more and takes longer, which is one more reason to start with Canadian retailers.

What will you pay to order white sneakers from the US?

For courier shipments from the US, there’s no duty or tax up to CA$40. From CA$40 to CA$150, you pay sales tax but no duty. Above CA$150, both apply. By mail, the exemption ends at CA$20. On top of that, Canada Post charges a CA$9.95 handling fee on dutiable or taxable items, and couriers usually charge brokerage fees.

What these thresholds mean for a pair of white sneakers:

Shipment from the US Value in CAD Duty Sales tax
Courier Up to CA$40 None None
Courier CA$40 to CA$150 None GST or HST, plus provincial tax where it applies
Courier Over CA$150 Yes, depending on the shoe and its origin Yes
Mail (Canada Post) Over CA$20 Yes, depending on the shoe and its origin Yes, plus a CA$9.95 Canada Post handling fee

How duty is worked out: under Canada’s Customs Tariff, the general (most-favoured-nation) duty rate on many sneaker lines is 18%. Shoes that qualify as made in the US or Mexico can enter duty-free under CUSMA, but most white sneakers are made in Asia, South America or Europe, so a shoe shipped from a US warehouse usually doesn’t qualify. Other trade agreements can lower the rate for some countries of origin.

Canada’s counter-tariffs on US goods, in effect since 8 September 2026, apply only to goods of US origin. Footwear wasn’t on the Department of Finance’s list when we checked in October 2026. This could change, so check the current list before a large order. This is general information, not tax or legal advice; the CBSA’s own pages are the authority.

What about ordering from Europe or elsewhere?

Expect to pay duty, sales tax and a carrier fee on delivery. The courier thresholds above apply only to shipments from the US and Mexico; mail from any country is taxed above CA$20. Some European brands show prices without Canadian taxes and collect duties when the parcel arrives, so read the shipping page before you order.

Veja is a good example. Its store ships to Canada for free over CA$230 and charges CA$35 below that. Prices for non-EU orders exclude taxes, and Veja says you’re responsible for paying government taxes, administrative fees and customs duties to the carrier on delivery. If you refuse the parcel to avoid the fees, Veja may charge you the duties owed. Returns are accepted within 28 days, at your cost.

Other international sites include duties at checkout, and the shipping page will say which approach a store uses. Either way, compare the landed cost in CAD, including duties, taxes and fees, against a Canadian retailer’s price.

When are the best sales on white sneakers in Canada?

The two big sale windows are Black Friday week and Boxing Day. In 2026, Black Friday is Friday, 27 November, Cyber Monday is 30 November, and Boxing Day falls on Saturday, 26 December. Many Canadian retailers run sales for days on either side. Popular sizes of the best-known white sneakers can sell out early.

How to make the most of them:

  • Decide your size first. Try the shoe on in a store in early November so you’re not guessing during a sale.
  • Check the return window. Some retailers extend holiday return windows; others mark sale items final.
  • Compare the landed cost. A US sale price can disappear once you add the exchange rate, tax and fees.
  • Watch the free-shipping threshold. Sales can lower or waive it.

We’re building a CAD price history for every shoe we cover, so you can see whether a sale price is actually low. Until then, each pick shows the current price and the month we checked it.

Which retailers have closed or changed?

Some names in older shopping advice no longer serve Canadian shoppers. Hudson’s Bay liquidated its stores in 2025, Nordstrom closed its Canadian stores and Canadian website in 2023, and Zappos stopped shipping to Canada in 2011. Montreal’s SSENSE went through creditor protection in 2025, and in January 2026 its founders agreed to buy it back.

If an AI answer or an older article recommends one of these, check before you plan around it. For current picks with Canadian retailers and prices, see our master list of the best white sneakers, our women’s list and our men’s list.

Questions people ask

Do you pay duty on sneakers ordered from the US?

Not on courier shipments from the US worth CA$150 or less: up to CA$40 there's no duty or tax, and from CA$40 to CA$150 you pay sales tax but no duty. Above CA$150, duty and taxes apply, and many sneaker lines carry an 18% general duty rate unless the shoe qualifies for a trade-agreement rate. By mail, the exemption stops at CA$20.

Is it cheaper to buy white sneakers in the US?

Sometimes, but often not once you add the exchange rate, sales tax, possible duty above CA$150, brokerage or handling fees, and the cost of returning across the border. Compare the landed cost in CAD, not the sticker price, and remember that returning a pair across the border costs time and money.

Where can you buy Veja sneakers in Canada?

Veja's own online store ships to Canada, free on orders over CA$230 and CA$35 below that. Its prices for non-EU orders exclude taxes, so you pay duties, taxes and fees to the carrier on delivery. Returns are accepted within 28 days, at your cost. Canadian stores also stock Veja, which can make trying on and returning easier.

When is Boxing Day 2026?

Boxing Day falls on Saturday, 26 December 2026. Many Canadian retailers run Boxing Day or Boxing Week sales online and in store around that date. Black Friday is earlier, on Friday, 27 November 2026, followed by Cyber Monday on 30 November. Many retailers discount sneakers in both windows, though not every size or colour.

Does Zappos ship to Canada?

Zappos stopped shipping orders to Canada in 2011, citing limited selection and logistics. If you're comparing US retailers, check each one's international shipping page before you build a cart, and look at the landed cost in CAD, including taxes, any duty and courier brokerage fees.
