First look

The Original Achilles Low is Common Projects' signature sneaker: a plain white leather low-top with flat cotton laces, a rubber sole and a gold-foil style number stamped on the outer side. SSENSE lists it as made in Italy, with a buffed leather upper and a suede lining. The white pair's style code is 1528 0506.

Price is the first thing to know in Canada. In October 2026 Kith Canada listed it at CA$624 and SSENSE, which is based in Montreal, at CA$745. Returns differ too: Kith Canada refunds eligible returns as store credit with an $8 restocking fee, so read both retailers' policies before you pick one. We could not confirm whether Common Projects' own online store ships to Canada, so it is not listed here.

It suits people who want the cleanest possible white sneaker for office wear or tailoring, and who are willing to look after it. For winter, keep it for dry days: smooth leather wipes clean, but road salt and slush are hard on premium leather, so a leather protector and quick wipe-downs make sense. Our picks are based on construction, materials, price and availability in Canada; hands-on Lab results are being added as each pair finishes testing.

Pros and cons

What's good

  • Made in Italy, per SSENSE's listing
  • Minimal design with no visible logo other than the gold-foil numbers
  • Sold by two Canadian storefronts priced in CAD (Kith Canada and SSENSE)

Watch out for

  • CA$624 to CA$745, several times the price of a mainstream leather sneaker
  • Women's sizing was not available at the Canadian retailers we checked
  • Kith Canada refunds returns as store credit, minus an $8 restocking fee

This pair is scheduled for our salt and slush test, a 30-day whiteness reading and fit measurements. Results will appear here, with our own photos, once testing finishes. How the Lab works.
